Handover: Cheikh DIBA takes up his post as Minister for the Economy, Finance and Planning

The handover ceremony between Mr Abdourahmane SARR, the outgoing Minister for the Economy, Planning and Cooperation, and Mr Cheikh DIBA, the new Minister for the Economy, Finance and Planning, took place on Thursday 4 June 2026.

This follows the government reorganisation that led to the merger of the departments responsible for Finance and the Economy into a single ministry, assisted by two Deputy Ministers responsible respectively for the Budget and for the Economy, Planning and Cooperation.

On this occasion, Minister Cheikh DIBA praised the work carried out by Minister Abdourahmane Sarr. In his address, the outgoing Minister expressed his gratitude to all the staff who had supported the department’s work and wished the new management team every success.

Finally, the Minister for the Economy, Finance and Planning reminded staff that public action is fully justified by the aim of improving people’s living conditions and called for the continuation of efforts to build a more prosperous and united Senegal.
