Press Release creditors virtual meeting

Dakar, September 30, 2026

The Republic of Senegal is pleased to invite all its external creditors to an information-sharing meeting to be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at 12:00 pm GMT, under the good offices of the International Monetary Fund.

Hosted and chaired by IMF staff at the request of the Republic of Senegal, the meeting will allow the authorities to share with external creditors an update on Senegal's economic and financial situation, its economic reform program, and its debt treatment strategy, including creditor engagement plan, timeline, and next steps.

IMF staff will outline the staff-level agreement reached with the authorities on staff-level agreement on a new Extended Credit Facility arrangement, as well as relevant elements of the IMF’s lending policies and frameworks, and their role in the process, including the procedural nature of the IMF’s good offices. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for participants to share comments or questions, which will be answered based on publicly-available information.

The meeting will be held virtually, with presentations from IMF staff and the Senegalese authorities, followed by a Q&A session with creditors. No material non-public information will be shared.
